NAAC Portal 2026: Binary Accreditation Portal Status and How to Apply

The NAAC portal is the online system run by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council where colleges and universities register, submit their data and follow their accreditation. The official website is naac.gov.in. This page explains what the portal is used for, where the new Binary Accreditation portal stands, and how your college can get ready.

What Is the NAAC Portal Used For?

Institutions use the NAAC portal to:

  • Register the institution and share basic details
  • Submit institutional information and the Self Study Report (SSR)
  • Upload evidence and respond to data validation queries
  • Track the progress of the accreditation process

Is the NAAC Binary Accreditation Portal Open?

NAAC announced the Binary Accreditation and Maturity-Based Graded Levels (MBGL) framework on 10 February 2025. It had indicated a launch around April to May 2025. Reports up to September 2026 say the new portal was still not fully operational, and no revised date had been confirmed.

Important: at the time of writing (28 October 2026) we could not find an official NAAC notice confirming that the portal is fully open. Please check naac.gov.in for the latest status before you act. We update this page when NAAC publishes a confirmed date.

How to Apply Online: The General Steps

  1. Register your institution on the official NAAC portal.
  2. Submit the institutional information (IIQA) and choose the applicable framework.
  3. Prepare and submit the Self Study Report (SSR) with supporting evidence.
  4. Go through data validation and verification (DVV).

The exact steps under Binary Accreditation will follow NAAC’s own notices. Read our detailed guides on what is NAAC and the Binary framework and NAAC eligibility criteria.

Old RAF System and the Binary System

New applications under the Revised Accreditation Framework (RAF) closed on 30 June 2024. Binary Accreditation, with an Accredited or Not Accredited result, is the new route. MBGL is the optional graded track after that.

Beware of Fake NAAC Links

Use only naac.gov.in. Do not enter institution details or pay any fee on a link that came from a social media post, WhatsApp forward or a person who is not part of your own institution.

What to Prepare While You Wait

  • Make your IQAC active, with regular meetings, minutes and action taken reports
  • Keep your AISHE data and institutional records consistent
  • Collect evidence criterion by criterion
  • Build a clear document folder system for the whole institution
